Pin Heavy Dual Competition Favors Wayne High

WAYNE – With another weekend invite approaching for the Wayne High wrestling team, WHS hosted a dual for parent’s night Thursday evening.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr high school gymnasium, the Blue Devils hosted Creighton.

Wayne High secured the 66-18 home victory to improve to 8-1 in dual competition.

Match wins came from Eli Barner (132) over Shane Farnik by fall (3:33), Reid Korth (170) over Easton Pavlik by fall (3:40), Tyrian Chenio (182) over Anthony Morrill by fall (0:28), Martin Carrollo (220) over Terance Burrell by fall (5:04) and Logan Schafer (285) over Christopher Cauthon by fall (3:32).

Matches won by forfeit came from Zachary McManigal (106); Wyatt Heikes (113), Ashton Munsell (120), Reece Jaqua (126), Raul Palma (138) and Cade Janke (195).

Creighton wins were posted by RJ Wilmes (145) over Francisco Jinez by fall (0:21), Cody Hanvey (152) over Aiden Liston by fall (1:31) and Sam Vortherms over James Dorcey by fall (0:37).

The Wayne High wrestling team will next compete in the Wisner-Pilger Invite on Saturday, December 21. Teams joining Wayne and Wisner-Pilger will be Bancroft Rosalie/Lyons Decatur, Cedar Bluffs, Clarkson-Leigh, Elkhorn, Oakland-Craig, Schuyler, Scribner-Snyder, Stanton and Winside.
