Pierce Edges Cedar Catholic, Bentjen Leads Wayne Girls Golf With 53

HARTINGTON – With a road golf outing scheduled for this weekend and a home invite next week, the Wayne High girls golf program took part in a road triangular Thursday.

From the Hartington Golf Club in Hartington, Cedar Catholic welcomed in both Wayne and Pierce during the nine-hole outing.

From the two complete teams Pierce edged Hartington Cedar Catholic (203-210).

Wayne High golfers finished just outside the top five from Natalie Bentjen who shot a 53 and Riley Haschke closed with a 59. Trinity Surber also shot a 78.

Delayne Sudbeck of Hartington Cedar Catholic shot the nine-hole low score of 40 followed by teammate Bailey Wuebben with a 47. Pierce golfers rounded out the top five from Becca Albrecht (48), Keli Shermer (49) and Alena Peters (52).

The Wayne High girls golf team will next compete in the Boone Central Invite on Saturday, September 19 starting at 10 a.m. from the Albion Country Club. The Wayne Country Club will also be the host site during a home Blue Devil Invite on Thursday, September 24 starting at 9 a.m.
