Pender Edges Wakefield-Allen In Season Opening Dual

WAKEFIELD – At the same time basketball was being played in the main gym at Wakefield Community School, a wrestling dual was also being held Thursday evening.

From the auxiliary gym in Wakefield, the Wakefield-Allen Trojans hosted Pender.

Pender held off Wakefield-Allen 39-30.

Pender wins came from Colton Sanderson (285) won by fall over Austin Gregerson (1:30); Braxton Volk (120) won by decision over Caleb Chase (11-5) and Trey Johnson (126) won by fall over Kolton Fischer (1:59).

Wakefield-Allen wins saw Jeremiah Chase (132) defeat Chase Hofmeister by fall (1:44); Gabriel Lamprecht (138) won by fall over Brian Robertson (0:54) and Wyatt Verzani (145) won by fall over Alexander Johnson (0:17).

The Wakefield-Allen wrestling team will next compete in the Howells-Dodge Tourney Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. while Pender will be in action at 10 a.m. Saturday during the Creighton Invite.
