Osmond Controls Class D2 District Golf Competition With 29 Stroke Victory

PENDER – Northeast Nebraska high school boys golf teams competed in the D2 District Meet Monday from Twin Creeks Golf Club.

Pender was the host, but Osmond stole the show with a 359-team score to be crowned District Champions. Howells-Dodge and Clarkson/Leigh both shot a 388 to punch their team ticket to state.

Class D2 District

Fullerton came in fourth place with a 393, Randolph finished fifth with a 400, Plainview came in sixth with a 410 and GACC rounded out the top seven teams with a 431. Other teams scores came from Hartington-Newcastle (eighth – 438), Elkhorn Valley (ninth – 447), Osceola (10th – 543) and Pender (11th – 566). Humphrey St. Francis, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, Homer and Santee did not have a full team.

Senior Alexander Kumm of Osmond shot the low score on the 18-hole course with a 75 followed by the top individual qualifier of sophomore Carter Schnoor with an 81 to finish runner-up.

Other individual qualifiers saw junior Chase Ostransky of Fullerton shoot an 83 to place third, junior Andrew Franzluebbers of GACC shot an 86 to finish sixth, junior Gabriel Pfeifer of Humphrey St. Francis tied with sophomore Bryson Anderson of Elkhorn Valley for seventh both shooting an 88 while freshman Jack Lubischer of Humphrey St. Francis tied for ninth with a 90.

The 2018 NSAA Class D Boys State Golf Championships will be held at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte. Tee times are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22-23.

 

A1: Norfolk won the A1 District Boys Golf Meet from the Fremont Golf Club by 21 strokes, shooting a 290. All five of their golf placed inside the top 10.

Class A1 District

A2: South Sioux City placed eighth with a 442 in the A2 District Golf Meet from Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln.

Class A2 District

The 2018 NSAA Class A Boys State Golf Championships are also scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22-23. The Norfolk Country Club will be the host of the state competition with tee times slated for 9:30 a.m. each day.
