One Stroke Decides District Champion, Runner-Up During C2 Golf Meet

OAKLAND – The Class C2 District Boys Golf meet came down to a one-stroke decision as the top two teams were well ahead of the third qualifying team Tuesday.

From the Oakland Golf Club, host Oakland-Craig was crowned District Champions with a 343 over District Runner-Up, Bishop Neumann with a 344. Logan View was the third qualifying team with a 364.

C2 District

Other team scores came from Yutan (fourth – 365), David City (fifth – 378), Omaha Brownell Talbot (sixth – 395), Twin River (seventh – 397), Arlington (eighth – 414), Shelby-Rising City (ninth – 415), North Bend Central (10th – 448), Archbishop Bergan (11th – 461), Cedar Bluffs (12th – 469), Stanton (13th – 559), Madison (14th – 562) as Tekamah-Herman did not record a complete team score.

The top golfer was sophomore Lindsey Thiele from Bishop Neumann with a 77 followed by fellow sophomore Ian Lundquist of Oakland-Craig in second with a 79.

Leading the individual golfers are sophomore Griffin Hendricks of Yutan (third – 80), junior William Danielson of David City (fourth – 81), junior Nolan Luetkenhaus of Cedar Bluffs (T-10th – 89) and senior Landon Walkenhorst of Arlington (T-10 – 89).

The 2018 Class C NSAA Boys State Golf Championships are slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22 – 23 from the Kearney Country Club. Tee times are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. both days.
