WAYNE – Over the next two weeks, the Wayne State College women’s and men’s basketball teams will play four NSIC South Division doubleheaders ahead of the holiday break.
Following a pair of losses at Sioux Falls last Saturday, WSC will welcome in Concordia-St. Paul at 5:30/7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 10 before hosting Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday, December 11 at 3:30/5:30 p.m. Again, the men’s games will be first this weekend from Rice Auditorium in Wayne.
The Wayne State College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will also be welcoming in Santa and Mrs. Claus this weekend where you can get your photo taken between the WSC Friday, December 10 doubleheader with Concordia-St. Paul (approximately 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.). This free will donation ($5 recommended) will go towards the Make-A-Fish Foundation.
In the men’s South Division games WSC is 5-4 and 2-1 in the NSIC South. Concordia-St. Paul enters with records of 1-8 and 0-3 in the league while #25 Minnesota State-Mankato is 7-1 and 2-1 in NSIC play going into their Friday night game at Augustana. Last season, the Wildcats won both matchups against Concordia-St. Paul in St. Paul 82-60 and 88-76 while WSC and Minnesota State split their two meetings in Wayne (WSC 85-68, MSU 80-77).
For the Wildcat women, WSC is 5-2 on the season and 2-1 in NSIC play. CSP is 6-1 and 2-1 in the NSIC South while the Mavericks remain as the last unbeaten team in NSIC women’s basketball heading into this weekend at 7-0 and 3-0 in the league. Last season, CSP won both meetings against the Wildcats 96-60 and 93-86 while MSU and WSC split in Mankato (WSC 84-79, MSU 84-71).
