NSAA Restrictions Starting To Relax, Contact Sports To Resume July 1

WAYNE – Another round of updates from the Nebraska School Activities Association began Thursday for member schools.

According to a release from the NSAA, schools are now permitted to participate in camps, clinics and summer leagues in all NSAA sanctioned activities except basketball, football, soccer and wrestling.

NSAA member schools may now hold open gyms for basketball, football, soccer and wrestling with restrictions. These restrictions include individual skills and workouts only; no physical contact with others; no sharing of equipment and no grouping of students.

Under the next set of Directed Health Measures (DHMs), fan attendance at sporting events will no longer be limited to household members as of Monday, June 22. Also, beginning July 1, team contact sports like football and basketball can resume.

Member schools will continue to follow the NSAA Bylaws pertaining to Summer Activities Overview until July 31.

Should the Governor issue further DHMs that would modify the foregoing provisions or other conditions warrant, these requirements will be adjusted. Any further official updates will be posted on the NSAA website and the NSAA social media platforms along with waynedailynews.com.
