OMAHA – As Classes A and B NSAA State Track & Field Championship competitions concluded on Thursday, Classes C and D will take over Burke Stadium this weekend.
A total of 206 northeast Nebraska individuals will be highlighted on KTCH/KCTY on both Friday and Saturday, May 20 – 21 in Omaha.
Field events will get underway each day at 9/9:30 a.m. with running events slated for 1:30 p.m.
Wakefield girls qualifiers are Jordan Metzler who will run in Friday’s 400-meter dash prelim around 4 p.m. while Daveigh Munter-McAfee will compete in the 300-meter low hurdles prelim around 5:40 p.m. on Friday.
Trojan boys will open Friday with Logan Bokemper who will compete in the 100-meter dash prelim around 3:05 p.m. and then close the night with the 200-meter dash prelim at 6:30 p.m. while Ryan Anderson will run in the 3200-meter run finals around 4:40 p.m. Caden Johnson will take part in the Class C boys triple jump at 11:30 a.m. on Friday before racing in the finals on Saturday during the 800-meter run around 1:30 p.m. and 1600-meter run around 4:15 p.m. Kaden Kratke qualified for the Class C boys long jump at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The lone LCC girls qualifier was Berniece McCorkindale who’ll compete in the Class C girls shot put at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. For the boys, Shane Benson will open Friday in the Class C boys high jump at 9:30 a.m. while Daniel and Deagan Puppe will both race in the 110-meter high hurdles prelim around 2:45 p.m. and then Daniel Puppe will run in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles prelim around 6 p.m. all on Friday.
For Class D, Winside boys qualifiers are Kaden Hunt in the boys high jump at 11:30 a.m. on Friday while Gabe Escalante will race in the 400-meter dash prelim around 4 p.m. Moving into Saturday, the 4×400-meter relay team of Hunt, Gabe Escalante, Art Escalante and Dean Kruger will compete at 2:10 p.m.
