LINCOLN – The field has been cut in half again after eight teams in both Class D1 and D2 advanced to the quarterfinal round of state playoff football competition early next week.
Thursday throughout the day and into the evening also featured a handful of northeast Nebraska teams.
Class D1 scores favored #1 Howells-Dodge topping #8 Lutheran High Northeast (56-22) and #4 Osceola-High Plains won at #12 Creighton (46-32).
Howells-Dodge will next host #4 Osceola-High Plains.
From Class D2, #5 Plainview won at #4 Johnson-Brock (36-28) while #2 Bloomfield defeated #7 Hartington-Newcastle, 50-20
Plainview will next host #1 Humphrey St. Francis who won against #8 Lawrence-Nelson (60-14). Bloomfield will next face #3 Falls City Sacred Heart who defeated #6 Clarkson/Leigh (56-6).
The eight-man quarterfinal round is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12 with the state semifinals being played on Monday, November 18. The Class D1 state title game will be played on Monday, November 25 at 10:15 a.m. and D2 that same day at 2:45 p.m. from Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
