WAYNE – Both the Northeast Nebraska 9U and 11U Crush baseball teams were in action this past week into early July.

Players from the 9U team are from Battle Creek, Norfolk, Winside, Laurel and Wayne. Northeast Nebraska Crush 11s represent Wayne, Laurel, Pierce and Hartington.

During the Metro Omaha Classic Tournament, the NE 9U Crush went 1-2 on Saturday, June 27. The team lost to Omaha Gladiators Black (19-8) and Elkhorn Prime Blue (11-8) but defeated the Lincoln Dominators (12-0).

The 9U team then knocked out the top seed in tourney play on Sunday, June 28 of 4 Seams Academy from Papillion, 15-0 before winning the tournament and avenging a loss from the day before by defeating the two seed Omaha Gladiators Black (14-7) in the championship game.

Then on July 1, The Northeast Nebraska Crush 9U swept the Columbus Outlaws 6-1 and 12-7 in Wayne.

The 9s will next be in Yankton, South Dakota on Saturday, July 11 at 2/4 p.m.

 

For the Northeast Nebraska Crush 11s, the team participated in the King of the Diamond Challenge Tournament in Omaha on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28. The 11s defeated Elkhorn Prime Navy (17-2) and Omaha Royals White (10-9) finishing the day as the top seed of their pool. Then, in the gold championship bracket NE Crush 11s suffered a 17-2 loss to the Plattsmouth Blue Devils.
