Northeast Nebraska Classic Features Season Openers For Several Teams

WISNER/PENDER – Twelve high school volleyball teams will be broken down into four pools during the 2018 Northeast Nebraska Volleyball Classic.

The Classic is slated to start on Thursday, August 30 with pool play and tournament play on Saturday, September 1 from both Pender and Wisner-Pilger high schools.

Wayne High (1-0) will take part in Pool C from Pender. The first match will feature Bancroft Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur (0-1) vs. Guardian Angels Central Catholic (0-0) at 5:30 with Wayne taking on BRLD at 6:30 p.m. and then against GACC at 7:30 p.m.

The Wakefield-Allen volleyball team will open their season in Pool D from Wisner-Pilger. The Trojans will open with North Bend Central (0-0) at 5:30 p.m., followed by NBC vs. Oakland-Craig (0-1) at 6:30 p.m. and Wakefield-Allen vs. Oakland-Craig at 7:30 p.m.

Other pool play matches:

Pool A from Pender: Pender (0-0) vs. Archbishop Bergan (2-0) at 5:30 p.m.; Bergan vs. West Point-Beemer (0-1) at 6:30 p.m. and Pender vs. West Point-Beemer at 7:30 p.m.

Pool B from Wisner-Pilger: Wisner-Pilger (1-0) vs. Tekamah-Herman (0-0) at 5:30 p.m.; Tekamah-Herman vs. Lutheran High Northeast (1-0) at 6:30 p.m. and LHNE vs. Wisner-Pilger at 7:30 p.m.

Teams will then qualify for the Gold, Silver and Bronze sites. Games will have start times of 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Pender and 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. from Wisner Saturday.

 

Also, the Wynot Tournament is scheduled for Thursday, August 30.

Wynot (0-0) will open with Bloomfield (0-1) at 5 p.m. followed by Hartington-Newcastle (3-0) vs. Crofton (0-0) at 6 p.m. The consolation game is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the championship match to follow at 8 p.m.
