Northeast Community College Has Five-Match Winning Streak Snapped, Drop Third Conference Outing

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – Following a handful of non-conference victories this past weekend, the Northeast Community College volleyball program remained on the road for a league match.

From Cedar Rapids, Iowa, NECC visited Kirkwood Community College on Wednesday.

Kirkwood Community College defeated the visiting Hawks in four sets of 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 26-24 and improved to 16-2 (3-0 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference). Northeast Community College fell to 10-7 overall and 0-3 in ICCAC play.

Northeast went 4-0 in the RCTC Tournament in Rochester, Minnesota. The Hawks won in four sets over both Minnesota State Community and Technical College and Rochester Community and Technical College on September 9 before sweeping both Harper College and Joliet Junior College on September 10.

No individual/team stats were available for Northeast Community College from the Kirkwood website.

The Northeast Community College volleyball team will next visit non-conference Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa on Thursday, September 15 at 3 p.m. before being off until next Wednesday at Iowa Lakes Community College for a conference match.

The seven-match road stretch from September 9 – 21 will end when NECC hosts Southeastern Community College on Wednesday, September 28 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk for a conference outing.
