NORFOLK – Nominations are now being accepted for the Athletic Hall of Fame through the Northeast Community College Athletic Department.

According to a release, the purpose of the Athletic Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor outstanding performance and achievement of individuals and/or teams who have distinguished themselves in intercollegiate athletics at Northeast Community College. A form to nominate someone for the Athletic Hall of Fame can be found at: https://www.northeasthawks.com/HOF.

The Athletic Hall of Fame is comprised of former intercollegiate student-athletes, teams, coaches and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Northeast Athletics. Nominees, after completing their time at Northeast Community College, need to have continued exemplifying the leadership, service and distinction of the College.

Nominations will be solicited from Hall of Fame Committee members, alumni, former athletes and coaches, college employees and members of the community.

Northeast Athletic Director Jerrett Mills said, “this is a great opportunity to honor and recognize former student-athletes, coaches, teams and contributors who have made outstanding contributions to Northeast Athletics.”

Student-athletes, teams and coaches shall be eligible for nomination five years after completing their athletic eligibility, season of competition or after leaving the institution.

Student-athlete criteria includes must have attended Northeast for at least one full academic year; must have left Northeast in good academic standing; must have represented Northeast Athletics in a positive fashion and be of good character and reputation as well have had a significant impact in his or her sport.

Team criteria adds winning a national championship; completed an undefeated regular season or other significant criteria or contributing factors.

Coaches’ criteria include being of good character and reputation in coaching for five or more years at Northeast; possess a distinguished record and recipient of regional or national awards.

For contributors, criteria information contains having made significant contributions of time, expertise and/or resources to Northeast Athletics, enhancing the experience of student-athletes and be of good character and reputation as well as exemplify the leadership, service and distinction that Northeast seeks to promote.

Recognition will be displayed in the Cox Activities Center of each recipient for permanent display. A plaque will be awarded and presented to each recipient during the Hall of Fame recognition ceremony.
