WAYNE – As the final home weekend of Wayne State College basketball approaches, members with the WSC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be raising money for a local group.
While supporting the Wayne State College women’s and men’s basketball teams this weekend, make sure to bring some extra money for the Sixth annual “Pie-To-The-Face” event. Money raised will support the Wayne Backpack Program and the candidate who receives the most money will get a “Pie-to-the-Face” at halftime of the women’s game on Saturday, February 15 in Rice Auditorium.
Contestants are Wayne State coaches, faculty, athletes and members of the Wayne community. They include Quincy Griffith (assistant football coach), Preston Davis (men’s track), Tia Jones (women’s track), Alyssa Ballenger (volleyball), Spencer Bassett (athletic trainer), Lindsay McLaughlin (professor), Mike Powicki (athletic director), Kevin Armstrong (foundation CEO) and Matt Ley (State Nebraska Bank & Trust CEO).
The Wildcats will host Concordia-St. Paul to open the weekend on Friday, February 14 at 5:30/7:30 p.m. before welcoming in Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday, February 15 at 3:30/5:30 p.m. for senior day.
Those on campus can drop money in the buckets outside the food services entrance on Friday from noon until 1 p.m. and in main entrance of Rice Auditorium at all the basketball games this weekend.
