WISNER/PENDER – Several northeast Nebraska high school volleyball teams concluded with their division matches on Saturday in two different gyms.
The 2021 Northeast Nebraska (NEN) Jean Groth Volleyball Classic played their Gold and Silver Division games at Wisner-Pilger high school and the Bronze Division in Pender.
Wayne High took part in the Silver Division and went 1-2 with a sweep over BRLD (28-26, 25-17) but were swept by North Bend Central (25-23, 26-24) and Oakland-Craig (25-17, 25-22).
Other Silver Division match results came from BRLD sweep Oakland-Craig (25-22, 25-21); North Bend Central swept BRLD (25-13, 25-16) and North Bend Central defeated Oakland-Craig (no score). North Bend was crowned champions of the Silver Division after going 3-0 on Saturday.
Also in Wisner, Gold Division results favored Wisner-Pilger who swept both Archbishop Bergan (25-21, 25-23) and Lutheran High Northeast (25-20, 25-22) while winning in three sets over GACC (25-17, 20-25, 25-19).
GACC swept both Bergan (25-19, 28-26) and Lutheran High Northeast (25-23, 25-23) while Archbishop Bergan swept Lutheran High Northeast (25-23, 26-24).
In Pender, Wakefield went 2-1 during the Bronze Division with a three-set victory over West Point-Beemer (25-16, 15-25, 25-23) and swept Tekamah-Herman (25-23, 25-13) but were swept by Pender (25-10, 25-21).
Other Bronze results:
Pender won in three sets over Tekamah-Herman (25-23, 21-25, 25-19); West Point-Beemer won in three sets over Pender (25-22, 22-25, 25-22) as Tekamah-Herman won in three sets over West Point-Beemer (25-21, 18-25, 27-25).
