Nebraska natives Jack Sock, Jackson Withrow fall in third round of men’s doubles at Australian Open

Lincoln native Jack Sock and Omaha Burke graduate Jackson Withrow were defeated by Ryan Harrison and Sam Querrey 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the third round of men’s doubles play at the Australian Open on Monday morning.

Harrison and Querrey had 13 aces, while Sock and Withrow had three. Harrison and Querrey also held a 29-17 advantage in winners.

It’s the second time in the tournament that Sock fell after winning the first set. In singles play, he was eliminated in the first roundwith a four-set loss to Alex Bolt.

The winners, also Americans, advance to face Lukasz Kubot (Poland) and Horacio Zeballos (Argentina) in the quarterfinals.
