Monday Junior American Legion Class B, C State Tournament Scores

PENDER/WAVERLY – Four teams remain in both the Class B and C Junior American Legion state baseball tournament entering day four.

As Championship Wednesday approaches in Pender and Waverly, two more teams could possibly be eliminated today.

Pender is the host site for Class C while Waverly is hosting the Class B Junior state tourney.

From Dave Nitzschke Field in Pender, Class C Junior state tourney Monday scores saw Syracuse eliminate the host Pender, 6-3 while Centura (DCB) knocked out Palmer (PWG), 5-4 in eight innings. The winner’s bracket game was a high scoring contest which favored Yutan over Lincoln Christian, 13-12. Yutan scored four runs in the home half of the seventh to win.

Lincoln Christian will open this evening at 5 p.m. vs. Centura (DCB) followed by Yutan vs. Syracuse. Yutan is the lone undefeated team remaining and has earned a spot in the championship game. (The bracket will follow note 1 since Yutan and DCB played each other already on Sunday).

The Class C Junior finals are scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 as July 22 is meant for any delays.

 

From Lawson Park in Waverly, the Class B Junior state tournament continued with games on Monday as Blair eliminated Arlington, 4-1 and the host Waverly knocked out Chadron, 4-1. The winner’s bracket game saw Beatrice defeat Pierce, 5-1.

Beatrice, being the lone undefeated team and solidifying a spot in the finals will face Blair at 1 p.m. today followed by Waverly vs. Pierce at 4 p.m. (Class B bracket will follow note 1 since Beatrice played Waverly on Sunday).

The Class B Junior state tournament finals will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 with July 22 being scheduled for any delays.
