WISNER/BROKEN BOW – Another two teams were eliminated from both the Class C and B Senior American Legion baseball state tournaments.
From Wisner City Park in Wisner for Class C as well as Paul Brown Field in Broken Bow for Class B, the field was narrowed down to four teams each.
In Wisner, Battle Creek topped Pender, 13-6 thanks to a six-run fifth inning while DCB knocked out SOS, 5-2 before the winner’s bracket favored Malcolm over Syracuse, 4-2.
Day four will open with an elimination game between DCB and Syracuse at 5 p.m. followed by one-loss Battle Creek vs. 3-0 Malcolm at 7:30 p.m. With a win or loss, Malcolm will play in the championship game at either 5 p.m. with a win or 7:30 p.m. with a loss tomorrow.
Malcolm has played all three remaining opponents by opening with a Saturday win over Battle Creek, 5-4, then won 2-1 over DCB on Sunday before recently topping Syracuse last night, 4-2.
The 2022 Class C Senior American Legion baseball championship game is scheduled for Wednesday, August 3 at 5 p.m.
In Broken Bow, Blair knocked out Ogallala, 11-8 as Columbus Lakeview eliminated the host Broken Bow, 9-2 while the winner’s bracket favoring Hickman over Waverly, 4-2.
Waverly will begin day four of the state tourney against Blair at 3 p.m. in an elimination game while one-loss Columbus Lakeview will face 3-0 Hickman at 6 p.m. Regardless of a win or loss, Hickman will advance to Wednesday’s championship game at 1 p.m. with a win or 4 p.m. with a loss.
The Class B Senior American Legion baseball championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3 in Broken Bow.
