Mid State Conference Basketball Tourney Bracket Released

NORFOLK – Mid State Conference basketball teams will open with a pair of play-in games before tourney play takes over throughout next week.

The bracket, featuring nine girls and boys varsity programs, was released Monday.

In the girls division, #8 Boone Central/Newman Grove will host #9 Wayne on Saturday, January 26 at 2 p.m. from Newman Grove HS. From the boys contest, #8 Pierce will host #9 GACC also Saturday at TBA.

The Mid State Conference girls bracket will then take over on Monday, January 28. From Norfolk Catholic HS, #1 Crofton will face the play-in winner at 6:15 p.m. followed by #4 Hartington Cedar Catholic vs. #5 Battle Creek. From Northeast Community College, #3 GACC will take on #6 Pierce at 6:15 p.m. followed by #2 O’Neill vs. #7 Norfolk Catholic.

Second round loser’s bracket games will be played at Norfolk Catholic on Thursday, January 31 while the next winner’s bracket round will be held at NECC Thursday along with championship Saturday, February 2. Fifth place game (11 a.m.), consolation (2:30 p.m.) and championship game (6 p.m.) Saturday.

The Mid State Conference boys first round will open on Tuesday, January 29. From Norfolk Catholic, #3 Boone Central/Newman Grove vs. #6 O’Neill at 6:15 p.m. followed by #2 Battle Creek vs. #7 Crofton. At Northeast Community College, #1 Hartington Cedar Catholic vs. play-in winner at 6:15 p.m. followed by #4 Wayne High vs. #5 Norfolk Catholic.

Second round loser’s bracket games will be played at Norfolk Catholic on Friday, February 1 while the next winner’s bracket round will be held at NECC Friday along with championship Saturday, February 2. Fifth place game (12:45 p.m.), consolation (4:15 p.m.) and championship game (8 p.m.) Saturday.
