Mid State Conference Basketball Tournament Brackets Released, Wayne Teams To Host Boone Central

BATTLE CREEK – The Mid State Conference is made up of nine teams as the play-in game for their conference tourney is scheduled this weekend ahead of the eight-team bracket in early February.

Battle Creek will be this year’s host on the final day of the Mid State Conference tournament on Saturday, February 6 along with the girls winner’s bracket on Thursday, February 4 and boys winner’s bracket on Friday, February 5. Norfolk Catholic will host the girls loser’s bracket on Thursday, February 4 and boys loser’s bracket on Friday, February 5.

The top two seeds in each division will host the first round for the girls on Monday, February 1 and boys on Tuesday, February 2 while the play-in games will begin this Saturday, January 30.

In the girls division, #8 Wayne (5-13) will host #9 Boone Central (4-12) at 4:15 p.m. with a JV game scheduled to open the afternoon at 3 p.m. Boone Central defeated the Blue Devils 42-37 in Wayne on January 9.

The boys division play-in game will feature #8 GACC hosting #9 Crofton also Saturday.

Girls Mid State Tournament Bracket

The Wayne/Boone Central girls winner will face #1 GACC (15-2) on Monday at 5:30 p.m. followed by #4 Hartington Cedar Catholic (10-6) vs. #5 Pierce (10-6) at 7:15 p.m. in West Point. The other half of the bracket will be played in O’Neill with #3 Crofton (14-3) facing #6 Norfolk Catholic (9-7) followed by #2 O’Neill (14-3) vs. #7 Battle Creek (7-9) at 7:15 p.m.

Boys Mid State Tournament Bracket

The GACC/Crofton boys winner will face #1 Pierce (12-2) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday followed by #4 Norfolk Catholic (11-4) vs. #5 O’Neill (8-8) at 7:15 p.m. Wayne will host the other boys bracket with #3 Hartington Cedar Catholic (10-3) opening next Tuesday vs. #6 Battle Creek (8-7) at 5:30 p.m. followed by #2 Wayne (14-3) vs. #7 Boone Central (8-8) at 7:15 p.m.

Wayne High defeated Boone Central 58-35 in Wayne on January 9.

Both the Wayne High girls and boys will host West Point-Beemer on Thursday, January 28 with varsity games set for 6/7:45 p.m.
