Mid State All-Conference Basketball Team, Five Blue Devils Listed

WAYNE – Made up of nine northeast Nebraska schools, the Mid State Conference announced their All-Conference basketball team on Monday.

According to a release, 10 girls and 11 boys were listed among the First Team while another 16 girls and nine boys were tabbed with Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.

#1 Guardian Angels Central Catholic defeated #2 Crofton, 46-41 in the Girls Division while #2 Wayne topped #1 Norfolk Catholic, 51-47 in the Boys Mid State Conference title game earlier this year.

State Tournament teams from the Mid State Conference were Norfolk Catholic boys (C2 third place); Crofton girls (C2 fourth place); Hartington Cedar Catholic girls (D1 fourth place); GACC girls (C2 state qualifier); Hartington Cedar Catholic boys (C2 state qualifier) and Wayne boys (C1 state qualifier).

Guardian Angels Central Catholic girls: senior Sophia Hass (First Team All-Conference); senior Livia Hunke (First Team All-Conference); sophomore Isabel Hass (Honorable Mention All-Conference); senior Kassidy Kaup (Honorable Mention All-Conference) and sophomore Kelsey Steffen (Honorable Mention All-Conference).

Hartington Cedar Catholic girls: junior Mckenna Noecker (First Team All-Conference); junior Laney Kathol (Honorable Mention All-Conference) and senior Jordyn Steffen (Honorable Mention All-Conference).

Hartington Cedar Catholic boys: junior Jaxson Bernecker (First Team All-Conference); senior Tate Thoene (First Team All-Conference) and senior Carter Arens (Honorable Mention All-Conference).


Norfolk Catholic girls: sophomore Avery Yosten (First Team All-Conference) and senior Kalea Fischer (Honorable Mention All-Conference).

Norfolk Catholic boys: senior Ben Hammond (First Team All-Conference); senior Brennen Kelley (First Team All-Conference); senior Preston Burbach (Honorable Mention All-Conference) and junior Kade Pieper (Honorable Mention All-Conference).
