Mid-South Senior Legion Tournament Set

HASTINGS – The field of eight is now set for the 2021 Senior American Legion Mid-South Regional baseball tournament following Nebraska’s best of three playoff over the weekend.

From Omaha Skutt Catholic High School, the American Division champion, Gretna competed against the National Division champion of Fremont.

Gretna won game one on July 30 by the score of 2-1; Fremont took game two, 4-3 on July 31 followed by a winner-take-all final favoring Gretna of 5-4 to advance to the Mid-South Regional.

With the goal of advancing to the American Legion World Series in North Carolina August 12 – 17, teams competing in Hastings will begin play on Wednesday, August 4 with Sunday, August 8 being scheduled for the championship game.

2021 Mid South Bracket

Pittsburg Post 64 Patriots (KS) will open with Oak Grove Post 379 (MO) at 10 a.m. on Wednesday; followed by Dubuque County (IA) vs. Gene Taylor’s Baseball Club (CO) at 1 p.m.; Cabot Rail Cats (AR) vs. Gretna Post 216 (NE) at 4 p.m. and Washington Post 218 (MO) vs. the host Hastings Five Points Bank at 7 p.m. will close out Wednesday’s schedule.
