Lions Club Track Meet Results

WISNER – Track & field competitors from Wayne continued their season with a road invitational during the Lions Club Track meet in Wisner.

A total of 13 teams ranging from Junior Varsity to Varsity athletes participated in the meet Saturday.

2021 Lions Club Team Scores

The Wayne High girls placed 10th with nine points while the Blue Devil boys finished eighth with 23 points.

Majority of the WHS freshmen and sophomores entered in the JV Division while the few remaining juniors and seniors competed on the varsity side.  Both Wayne High’s JV teams won their respective division with the WHS JV girls recording 150 points (Norfolk runner-up with 106) and the Blue Devil JV boys winning with 131 points (Norfolk runner-up with 126 pts).

North Bend won the girls division with 111 points, followed by David City in second with 93 points, the host Wisner-Pilger took third (78), GACC finished fourth (65) and David City Aquinas Catholic rounded out the top five teams with 52 points.

Team scoring for the Blue Devil girls came from Kiara Krusemark finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:40) and fifth in the 400-meter dash  (1:07). The lone field event placing came from Andi Belt in the triple jump (fifth – 32’ 1 ½”). The WHS 4×400-meter relay team of Virginia Kniesche, Rubie Klausen, Krusemark and Belt placed sixth (4:53).

WP Invitational Girls Results 2021

Boys division champion went to Aquinas Catholic with 150 points, Stanton placed runner-up with 92 points, David City took third (58), Pierce came in fourth (57) and Logan View rounded out the top five teams with 43 points.

Wayne High was led by Layne Evans who placed runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles (41.84) and fourth in the 400-meter dash (53.33). Yair Alcantara finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (19.9).

Field event scoring came from Treyton Blecke placed fourth in the high jump (5’ 6”) while Reece Wilson-Jaqua took fifth in the pole vault (11’) and fifth in the triple jump (38’ 3”).

The Wayne High girls and boys track & field team will next host their second and final invitational on Tuesday, April 13 starting at 2 p.m.
