Lewis & Clark Volleyball Conference Tourney In The Books

LAUREL – With subdistrict pairings coming out this week, a northeast Nebraska conference tourney went final Tuesday evening.

From LCC Schools in Laurel, both the consolation third-place match and championship match were held.

In the third-place match, Wynot swept Winside (25-13, 25-20) while the championship match favored Ponca in five-sets over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (25-15, 25-27, 25-21, 25-21).

The conference champion, Ponca improves to 17-9 going 5-0 in conference tourney play; LCC is now 16-11; Wynot is 15-4 and Winside fell to 12-13.

In the loss to Wynot, Winside was led at the net by Hope Cummins with four kills and eight digs while Brooklyn Behmer added three kills, four set assists and five digs. Kati Topp had three kills and three digs; McKenna Russell tallied five set assists and five digs as Ashelyn Abler came away with three service aces.

Ponca and LCC will join Creighton, Crofton and North Central during the C2-5 Subdistrict; while Winside and Wynot will join Randolph, Santee and Walthill during the D2-5 Subdistrict. Postseason volleyball action gets underway on Monday and Tuesday, October 26 – 27 at the highest seed of their subdistrict. Pairings will be announced Thursday.
