LAUREL – Opening round play-in games were held over the weekend at four different sites featuring 12 volleyball teams.
The Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament began with pool games being played in Hartington (Pool A); Randolph (Pool B); Osmond (Pool C) and Allen (Pool D) Saturday afternoon.
Results from Pool A: Hartington-Newcastle def. Bloomfield, 25-16, 25-21 (2-0); Hartington-Newcastle def. Plainview, 25-21, 25-19 (2-0) and no results from Bloomfield vs. Plainview match.
Pool B results: Randolph def. Wausa, 25-23, 25-16 (2-0); Walthill def. Randolph, 25-20, 19-25, 26-24 (2-1) and Wausa def. Walthill, 25-12, 25-21 (2-0).
Pool C results: Osmond def. Emerson-Hubbard, 25-22, 25-5 (2-0); Osmond def. Homer, 25-19, 25-20 (2-0) and Osmond def. Emerson-Hubbard, 25-22, 25-5 (2-0).
Pool D results: Wakefield-Allen def. Creighton, 25-18, 25-14 (2-0); Wakefield-Allen def. Winnebago, 25-14, 21-25, 25-5 (2-1) and Winnebago def. Creighton, 25-19, 25-17 (2-0).
Hartington-Newcastle will next face #4 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge while Wakefield-Allen will take on #1 Wynot on Monday, October 21 starting at 5:30 p.m. from Randolph with the winner and loser of each match playing later in the evening.
Randolph will take on #3 Winside while Osmond will next face #2 Ponca also Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. from Homer with the winner and loser of each match to play later in the evening.
Monday consolation matches being held in Winnebago will feature Emerson-Hubbard vs. Walthill and Winnebago vs. Homer and from Wausa, Bloomfield will take on Creighton and Wausa vs. Plainview.
The championship and consolation matches will be held at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Tuesday, October 22.
