Lewis & Clark Conference Showdown To Be Featured On KTCH Tonight

WAKEFIELD – After securing a home victory over Omaha Nation last Friday, the Wakefield Trojan basketball teams will continue their home stretch of games this week.

The Trojans will resume play this evening when Lewis & Clark Conference opponent, Randolph comes to town. The girls JV game will tipoff at 4 p.m. followed by the JV boys contest as both will only be three quarters long while the girls varsity contest is scheduled to start around 6:30 p.m. and boys to follow.

The Wakefield girls have won back-to-back thanks to a 62-14 win against Omaha Nation improving to 2-1 while also defeating Wayne 59-45 last Tuesday. Randolph enters with a 1-2 record with two straight losses to Ponca (55-20) and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (32-23).

On the boys side, the Trojans are 1-2 after splitting their last two home games with a 48-44 loss to Wayne but winning 44-42 over Omaha Nation. The Cardinals have dropped three straight to sit 0-3 and recently lost at LCC (79-29).

Wakefield will also have home games against Stanton this Friday, Westwood of Iowa next Monday and Hartington-Newcastle on Tuesday, December 22 to close out their pre-moratorium schedule.

Last year, the then Wakefield-Allen girls defeated Randolph 70-45 while the Wakefield boys also won at Randolph 62-56.

Norfolk Catholic defeated Hartington Cedar Catholic, 42-34 to snap a three-game losing streak and now sit 1-3 while Cedar Catholic fell to 0-2.
