League Results For Wayne Youth Baseball

WAYNE/PENDER – Following a home weekend tournament, Tri County league youth baseball teams were back in action Monday night.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne Blue Didgets and Broncos hosted Wisner where the Didgets won 8-1 and the Broncos lost 5-4 while the Wayne White Didgets and Broncos visited Pender where the Didgets (no results) and the Broncos suffered and 10-6 loss.

In the Blue Broncos games, both Wayne and Wisner scored two runs in the first before Wayne added a run in the second. Wisner then took the lead in the fourth with two more runs and scored once more in the fifth to lead 5-3. Wayne Blue scored on run in the home half of the sixth but fell 5-4 as the team now sits 4-6 in league play.

Adrian Contreras doubled and drove in two runs while Blake Smith, Alejandro Archundia and Aiden Petersen all singled and scored. Chase Sturm singled twice; Spencer Moormeier singled and drove in a run; Karter Hays singled as Joe Leatherdale scored.

Smith (84 pitches) suffered the loss in three and two-thirds allowing five runs (one earned) off four hits while striking out eight batters and walking four. Moormeier (45 pitches) worked the final two innings striking out five batters and walking three.

For Wayne White, Pender took the early lead of 4-1 in the first and outscored Wayne White, 2-1 in the second to lead 6-2. Wayne added single runs in the third and sixth but were again outscored, 2-1 in the fourth and fifth. Pender won 10-6. Wayne fell to 6-4 on the season.

Will Patefield recorded a homerun, single, RBI and two runs scored while Dylan Jensen also singled. Herwin Bernal, James Birkel, Tate Holz and Maddox Heithold all scored.

Jensen (53 pitches) suffered the loss in an inning allowing six runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out three batters and walking four. Bernal (52 pitches) worked three innings allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit while striking out four batters and walking two. Patefield (25) pitched the final inning allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit while striking out one batter and walking two.

During the Didget games, Wayne Blue won 8-1 on the home diamond over Wisner improving to 10-0.

Kash Haase recorded a homerun, two singles, two RBI and two runs scored while Colston Starzl singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice. Liam Rockhill singled, drove in two runs and scored; Easton Gamble singled, drove in a run and scored; Carson Heiser singled and drove in a run as Cameron Ellyson and Kyle Brogan both scored.

Colston Starzl (85 pitches) secured the complete game victory in five innings allowing one run off one hit while striking out 15 batters and walking three.

No results for the Wayne White Didgets at Pender were received.

 

Thursday, June 24 will close out the Tri County regular season as the Wayne Blue Didgets and Broncos will host the West Point Bombers at 6/7:45 a.m. while the Wayne White Didgets and Broncos will visit Wakefield at 6/7:45 p.m.
