Korth Inks With Concordia University (NE) For Football

WAYNE – A Wayne High senior standout will be furthering his education and playing college football.

Reid Korth of Wayne signed his national letter of intent to attend Concordia University in Seward (NE) Wednesday afternoon and will join the Bulldogs in the Fall of 2021.

Korth said he loved the coaching staff and it felt like home.

“I had knew some people down there and some of my friends that are going there,” said Korth. “It just fits me best and they’re an aggressive football team like I like, so they fit me.”

Korth paced the Blue Devil ground attack with 1,275 yards on 217 carries and recorded 22 touchdowns. In two games less than the 2019 playoff run (ended in the semifinals), Korth improved on his junior season of 226 carries for 1,156 yards with 21 touchdowns. He also added nine receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown in the receiving department this past year.

Defensively is where Korth will look to shine in the college level as he’ll play linebacker. He was second in total tackles with 70 (22 solo) this past season for Wayne High. Korth finished with 238 total tackles (92 solo) in his career.

Korth added his goal was to help change Wayne High football and move it forward in the right direction.

“Always work hard, be the hardest worker on the team,” Korth added. “I think our grade changed everything with last year’s senior class they helped us out to help continue it and just keep the gas pedal down. We hope we did the same until the next class comes in.”

The Wayne High football team qualified for the C1 playoffs for the second straight year but fell in the first round to the eventual runner-up, Adams Central (31-13) in the opening round. WHS ended the season 6-4 this past Fall.

Korth will participate in baseball this Spring for Wayne High and compete in a couple of bowl games this summer before reporting to Concordia University – Seward for football.

Korth was listed as one of the 36 highlighted for the initial 2021 Concordia University football recruiting class on February 3.
