VALLEY/SCRIBNER – The official brackets have been posted for the 2019 Classes B/C Junior American Legion baseball tournaments.
The Wayne Post 43 Juniors closed out their regular season Tuesday with an 8-0 victory over South Sioux City to win their 10th consecutive game and are now 21-4 overall. Wayne earned the #2 seed during the Class B Area 3 Tournament and will face #7 Arlington at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12 in Valley.
Wayne topped Arlington 15-0 on June 19 in Wayne and won 6-5 in eight innings on July 7 in Wakefield during their league championship.
#5 Waterloo-Valley is the host and will face #4 West Point at 8 p.m. closing out the first round. Other first round matchups will be #1 Bennington vs. #8 Schuyler at 12:30 p.m. and #3 Blair vs. #6 Omaha Roncalli (opposite of Wayne game) at 3 p.m.
Loser’s bracket games will be played at noon and 2:30 p.m. with winner’s bracket games held at 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday.
The Wakefield Post 81 Juniors went 1-1 during the RBL tourney to finish at 5-9. Post 81 will be the #4 seed in the Class C Area 2 Tournament hosted by Scribner Friday, July 12 – Tuesday, July 16.
Wakefield Post 81 will play the second game against #3 Tekamah-Herman at 4 p.m. Friday. Other games will feature #1 Pender vs. #6 Wisner-Pilger/Dodge Howells at 1 p.m. and the host #2 Hooper-Scribner taking on #5 Morse Bluff/North Bend at 7 p.m.
Another set of northeast Nebraska teams will compete in the Class C Area 1 Tournament hosted by Pierce. #3 Creighton will open Friday against #4 Battle Creek at 1 p.m.; followed by #1 Crofton vs. #6 Ponca at 4 p.m. and #2 Pierce taking on #5 Valentine at 7 p.m.
