Johnson Places Third, Haschke Finishes Seventh During LCC Invite

LAUREL – As a conference meet approaches later this week, the Wayne High girls golf team took part in a weekend invite on a northeast Nebraska course.

From Cedar View Country Club in Laurel, Wayne High sent three golfers to the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Invite and had no team score on Saturday.

The host, LCC won the tournament with a 368 followed by Battle Creek with a 400.

Sarah Karnes of LCC shot an individual low, 82 to win the invite followed by teammate Sidney Groene in second shooting an 89.

Wayne’s Joslyn Johnson paced the Blue Devils with a third place finish shooting a personal best 92. Riley Haschke also shot a personal best 98 placing seventh while Lindsay Niemann rounded out the group with a 122.

Wayne High will next compete in the Mid State Conference girls golf tournament on Thursday, September 30 from the Lakeview Golf Course in Crofton starting at 10 a.m. WHS will also compete in the Class C-3 District meet at Fair Play Golf Course in Norfolk on Monday, October 4. Joining Wayne will be the host Battle Creek with Ainsworth, Cedar Catholic, Crofton, Elkhorn Valley, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. Norfolk Catholic, O’Neill, Pierce, Stanton, West Holt, West Point-Beemer and Winnebago.
