COLUMBUS – A day after the Wayne High wrestling team hosted a season-opening triangular, the Blue Devils took to the road the next afternoon for their first invitational of the year.
From Columbus Lakeview high school, the Vikings hosted the Friday late afternoon invite.
Team scores saw the host, Columbus Lakeview edge Raymond Central, 196.5-191 while Cross County/Osceola placed third (126.5) and Wayne High took fourth with 115.5 points.
Other team results came from Ashland-Greenwood (fifth – 103), Shelby-Rising City (sixth – 88), Gibbon (seventh – 85), East Butler (eighth – 76), North Bend Central (ninth – 73.5), Columbus Scots (10th – 64) and Fullerton (11th – 31).
Wayne High was led by Reece Jaqua (126) and Dakota Spann (195) who won their weight class while Reid Korth (182) and Cade Janke (220) took runner-up. Raul Palma (132) and Logan Schafer (285) both finished fifth as Zachary McManigal (106) placed sixth.
The Wayne High wrestling team will next wrestle against Norfolk Catholic on Thursday, December 12 at 7 p.m.
