WAYNE – Following 4-0 sweep during the Ottawa Kansas Beach Tournament, Wayne State College will have some time off now until a trip in April to Florida.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, Wednesday afternoon’s scheduled home beach volleyball match with Ottawa (Kan.) at Wayne State has been canceled due to weather and will not be rescheduled.

The Wayne State College beach volleyball team is 11-3 on the season and recently swept Oklahoma Wesleyan (5-0), defeated both Missouri Baptist and Park University (4-1) as well as edged the host Ottawa University of Kansas (3-2) on March 16 in Shawnee, Kansas.

Up next for the Wildcat beach volleyball program will be the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Tavares, Florida from Thursday, April 14 – Saturday, April 16. Last year, WSC finished runner-up in the Silver Division and eighth place overall during the AVCA Beach Championships in 2021.
