High School Track & Field Meet Held At WSC Friday, LCC Opens Season

WAYNE – Normally an indoor track & field meet at Wayne State College, high school athletes began their spring season outdoors with warmer weather conditions.

On Friday, a total of nine teams made up the 2022 WSC High School Invite from WSC Memorial Stadium. Northeast Nebraska teams of Homer, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Stanton and Walthill joined Chambers-Wheeler Central, Hinton (IA), Siouxland Christian, Stuart and West Holt.

No team scores were kept for the invitational.

LCC girls top finishers came in second place from Tali Erwin during the high jump (Tied for second – 4’ 10”) and Mallory Eriksen during the triple jump (30’ 8”).

Friday girls results

The top LCC girls relay team came in the 4×800-meter event finishing third (13:24).

Friday boys results

LCC boys champions were Deagan Puppe in the 110-meter hurdles (15.5) as well as the 300-meter hurdles (45.7) and Shane Benson in the high jump (5’ 8”).

The top LCC boys relay team came in the 4×800-meter event finishing second (9:43).
