Haschke Punches Ticket To State Meet, Ties Season-Best With 98

NORFOLK – After tying a personal best, Riley Haschke shot a sub 100 18-hole round and will earn a spot in the NSAA Class C State Golf Championships.

From FairPlay Golf Course in Norfolk, the Wayne High girls golf team competed in the C-3 District meet on Monday.

As a team, Wayne High shot a season-low 451 to place sixth as Haschke placed seventh after shooting a 98 (ties a season-low) to qualify for the state tournament.

Other Blue Devil scores came from Joslyn Johnson (110), Lindsay Niemann (113), Trinity Surber (130) and Jamie Janke (131).

State qualifying teams include district champion West Point-Beemer (397), district runner-up Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (410) and third place team O’Neill (412).

Brooke Diekemper of West Point-Beemer shot an 18-hole low 84 while LCC golfers placing in the top 10 included Sarah Karnes (90) in second place and Delaney Hall (98) in sixth place.

Joining Haschke of Wayne as individual qualifiers are also Pierce teammates Alena Peters (third – 92) and Melinda Stelling (eighth – 98); Kelsi DeCora (fifth – 96) of Winnebago and Erica Brown (ninth – 99) of Elkhorn Valley.

The Class C Girls Golf Championships will be held at the Elks Country Club in Columbus while Class A will compete at the Norfolk Country Club and Class B at the Scotts Bluff Country Club in Scottsbluff. The two-day state golf format will start at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 11 – Tuesday, October 12.
