Haschke Earns Fifth Place Finish At Girls Golf Conference Meet

CROFTON – Northeast Nebraska high school girls golf programs battled the Thursday weather with rain coming into play towards the end of the day during a conference outing.

From Crofton Lakeview Golf Course in Crofton, Wayne High joined seven other varsity teams and a handful of JV teams in the Mid State Conference meet.

The Blue Devils were led individually by Riley Haschke with a fifth-place medal after shooting a 101. Other scorers for Wayne were Lindsay Niemann (123) and Joslyn Johnson (130).

Head coach Josh Johnson said, “I am extremely happy with the growth of these young golfers this season. They have all had some bumps in the road and some tough days/rounds, but they keep battling and have great attitudes.  Riley has grown so much I was glad to see her earn a Conference medal.”

O’Neill outlasted Battle Creek 407 – 432 to be crowned conference champions while Boone Central and Pierce both shot a 441 and Hartington Cedar Catholic rounded out the top five teams with a 457.

Madi Hampton of O’Neill shot the 18-hole net low with a 92 followed by Tayler Beierman of Boone Central and O’Neill’s Kaylin Gaughenbaugh both with a 95.

The Wayne girls golf team will next travel to the Fairplay Golf Course in Norfolk on Monday for District competition.
