Hartington-Newcastle Splits Home Triangular

HARTINGTON – With conference tourney games scheduled for this weekend, the Hartington-Newcastle volleyball team played host to a pair of northeast Nebraska schools Thursday.

HNS hosted both Walthill and Ponca during the end of season triangular.

Hartington-Newcastle first opened with a sweep of Walthill (25-11, 25-10) before Ponca topped Walthill (25-6, 25-7) and then the Indians swept the Wildcats (25-22, 25-19). Hartington-Newcastle is now 17-9, Ponca improves to 21-4 while Walthill falls to 6-12.

In the sweep over Walthill, Kayden Jueden recorded seven kills and four digs followed by Erin Folkers with six kills for the Wildcats. Keanna Korth added four kills and four service aces as Brianna Hopping finished with three set assists and six service aces. Alivia Morten tallied four set assists, three service aces and four digs.

From the loss to Ponca, Kayden Jueden posted a double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs as Hopping tallied eight set assists and three digs. Alivia Morten finished with eight set assists and 11 digs as Erin Meisenheimer tacked on 12 digs.

HNS will next face Plainview and Bloomfield Saturday during pool play of the Lewis & Clark Conference Tourney.
