Hartington-Newcastle Places Third During Early Season Tournament

WYNOT – Four northeast Nebraska volleyball teams joined in on the Wynot Tournament Thursday evening.

The host Wynot opened with Bloomfield while Hartington-Newcastle took on Crofton.

For HNS, the Wildcats won the opening set 25-23, but it was Crofton taking the next two (28-26, 25-23). Hartington-Newcastle then swept Bloomfield (25-18, 25-12) in the third place match to now sit 4-1 on the season.

In the loss to Crofton, Kayden Jueden paced HNS with a double-double recording 14 kills and 20 digs. Belle Harms added nine kills while Abbe Morten picked up eight kills. Liby Lange tallied 36 set assists as Willa Scoville led the dig department with 25.

From the win over Bloomfield, Hailey Gottsche posted six kills followed by five each from Evvie Krie, Belle Harms and Morten. Lange recorded 20 set assists while Scoville came away with 10 digs.

Wynot started the night with a two-set win over Bloomfield (25-16, 25-10) before winning in three sets over Crofton during the championship match (24-26, 25-10, 25-12). Wynot opens their season at 2-0 while Crofton stats the year at 1-1.  Bloomfield suffers their third straight loss of the season (0-3).

Hartington-Newcastle will next host Wausa on Tuesday, September 4.
