Four Volleyball Pools To Be Featured In Two High Schools Thursday

WISNER/PENDER – Several area high school volleyball teams will begin their season or have a few matches in the books as they prepare to compete in a two-day classic.

From both Wisner-Pilger and Pender high schools, the Northeast Nebraska Volleyball Classic will begin with pool play on Thursday, September 5 and bracket pay on Saturday, September 7.

The Wayne High volleyball team is 1-0 after sweeping Ponca last Thursday and will play in Pool A hosted by Pender. The first match will feature (0-0) Pender vs. (1-0) Oakland-Craig at 5:30 p.m.; followed by WHS vs. Oakland-Craig and Pender vs. Wayne.

Also, in Pender will feature Pool C teams of (2-0) Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur vs. (2-0) Lutheran High Northeast at 5:30 p.m.; followed by LHNE vs. (1-1) Guardian Angels Central Catholic and BRLD vs. GACC.

Pool B hosted by Wisner-Pilger: (1-0) Wisner-Pilger vs. (0-0) Wakefield-Allen at 5:30 p.m.; followed by W-A vs. (0-3) West Point-Beemer and Wisner-Pilger vs. WP-B.

Pool D hosted by Wisner-Pilger: (1-0*) North Bend Central vs. (0-1) Tekamah-Herman at 5:30 p.m.; followed by NBC vs. (1-1) Archbishop Bergan and Bergan vs. T-H.

*North Bend Central vs. Madison match Tuesday not final as of Wednesday morning.

Following Thursday’s results, Saturday matches will be determined. Games in Wisner will last from 8:30 a.m. until the final matches start around 1:30 p.m. with matches in Pender starting at 8:30 a.m. and going through 10:30 a.m. on September 7.
