Five-Run Inning Helps Post 43 Senior Secure Home Victory

WAYNE – After the Post 43 Juniors were in action on the road for a non-league game Thursday, the Wayne Post 43 Seniors played host to a Ralph Bishop opponent Friday evening.

From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, Post 43 entertained the Laurel Post 54 Seniors.

Following a scoreless first inning, Wayne started with a run in the second inning, five in the third and two more in the fifth to win 8-0 in five innings. The Post 43 Seniors have now won three straight to improve to 12-3 on the season.

Zane Jackson paced Wayne at the plate with a triple and two RBI. Josh Lutt and Jacob Kneifl both singled and drove in a run as Justin Dean and Tucker Nichols both accounted for a RBI.

Tyler Lutt picked up the win in three innings allowing three hits while striking out six batters and walking one batter. Nichols worked the final two innings allowing one hit while striking out one batter.

Laurel hits came from Logan Hansen, Chase Johnson, Cody Martin and Cody Babl.

Babl suffered the loss in two and a third innings allowing six runs off of two hits while walking two batters. Johnson worked the final inning and two-thirds allowing two earned runs off of one hit while walking three batters.

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors are off until Monday, June 18 when they join their Juniors team to visit Pierce at 5:45/8 p.m.
