First Round D1, D2 Playoffs Open Thursday

PLAINVIEW – Throughout Halloween day and into the evening 64 eight-man football teams will start postseason competition.

Catch a first round Class D2 playoff football contest on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and online at waynedailynews.com when #5 Plainview (7-1) hosts #12 Randolph (5-3) at 7 p.m.

The Cardinals visited Plainview during week two of the regular season where the Pirates won 50-24. Plainview ended their regular season having a seven-game winning streak snapped by undefeated Humphrey St. Francis in Humphrey (26-54). Randolph ended their regular season with a 41-0 home victory over Wausa on October 24.

Other area Class D2 teams in action will feature #9 Allen (6-2) at #8 Lawrence-Nelson (4-4) at 4:30 p.m.; #13 Wynot (3-5) at #4 Johnson-Brock (6-2) at 4:30 p.m.; #7 Hartington-Newcastle (5-3) vs. #10 Mead (5-3) at 6 p.m. and #15 Pender (4-4) at #2 Bloomfield (8-0) at 6 p.m.

Class D1 northeast Nebraska playoff games will include #1 Howells-Dodge (8-0) vs. 16 Homer (4-4) at 7 p.m.; #8 Lutheran High Northeast (5-3) vs. #9 Lourdes Central Catholic (4-4) at 6 p.m.; #5 Wisner-Pilger (7-1) vs. #12 Creighton (5-3) at 6 p.m.; #10 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (5-3) at #7 Cross County (4-4) at 6 p.m. and #15 Guardian Angels Central Catholic (4-4) at #2 BDS (8-0) at 6 p.m.
