MACY – The Emerson-Hubbard Pirate volleyball team began their season on the road Tuesday night.
From Macy, EHS visited Omaha Nation.
Emerson-Hubbard picked up two set wins right from the start of 25-21 and 25-18 before Omaha Nation took set number three, 26-24. The Pirates closed out the match with a 25-22 fourth set victory to start their season at 1-0 while Omaha Nation fell to 2-1.
Emerson-Hubbard is back in action on Thursday, August 30 joining Ponca for a road triangular at Homer while Omaha Nation will next visit Omaha Christian Academy on Tuesday, September 4.
LAUREL – Another area volleyball team had their season begin Tuesday evening, but this time at home.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears entertained Randolph as the Cardinals were playing in their sixth game of the year.
Randolph came out strong in the opening set with a 25-10 victory, but it was LCC winning the next two sets of 25-13 and 25-21. Down a set, Randolph edged the Bears 26-24 in the fourth as Laurel-Concord-Coleridge fired back in the fifth to win 15-7 and start their season at 1-0. Randolph drops to 2-4.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will next host Homer as Randolph entertains Ponca both on Tuesday, September 4.
