WAYNE – An eight-team high school holiday basketball tournament will play four games each day at two different locations in late December.
The 2021 Elkhorn Valley Bank Northeast Nebraska Shootout will be held from Tuesday, December 28 – Thursday, December 30. Girls and boys teams form Auburn, Hartington Cedar Catholic, Homer, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Pender, Pierce and Winnebago will join Wayne at both Wayne State College and Wayne Jr/Sr High School.
Day one girls games will be at the high school with boys at the college (December 28); boys will then play their second round games at Wayne High School with the girls at Wayne State College (December 29); before 5th and 7th place games at the High School for both girls and boys as well as championship and third place games at WSC (December 30).
First round girls games from the high school will be Pierce (4-1) vs. Pender (6-2) at 11 a.m.; Wayne (3-4) vs. Winnebago (2-6) at 12:45 p.m.; Hartington Cedar Catholic (1-5) vs. Homer (3-3) at 2:30 p.m. and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (4-3) vs. Auburn (4-2) at 4:15 p.m.
Opening day boys games at the college will begin with Wayne (7-0) vs. Winnebago (4-3) at 11 a.m.; Pierce (3-2) vs. Pender (0-8) at 12:45 p.m.; Auburn (5-1) vs. LCC (7-0) at 2:30 p.m. and HCC (4-1) vs. Homer (2-4) at 4:15 p.m.
Broadcast schedule on KCTY/KTCH:
Day one will be Pierce vs. Pender girls and Wayne vs. Winnebago girls will be carried on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 and waynedailynews.com while the Wayne vs. Winnebago boys and Pierce vs. Pender boys going on at the same time will have reports on both KCTY and Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com.
Then, LCC vs. Auburn boys and Hartington Cedar Catholic vs. Homer boys will be aired on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com as the same time of the HCC vs. Homer girls and LCC vs. Auburn girls will have reports on both KTCH/KCTY.
Day two broadcast schedule tentatively will be Wayne/Winnebago vs. Pierce/Pender winner at 2:30 p.m. on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com followed by the HCC/Homer vs. LCC/Auburn winner at 4:15 p.m. also on KTCH. Reports from the girls 2:30 p.m. and boys 4:15 p.m. winner’s bracket games would have reports on both KTCH/KCTY/
Day three broadcast schedule would be girls and boys consolation games at 11 a.m./12:45 p.m. on KCTY as well as the girls and boys championship games at 2:30/4:15 p.m. on KTCH.
