WAYNE – A northeast Nebraska high school holiday basketball tournament will see a format change with four games now being played at two locations each over a three-day period in late December.
The 2021 Elkhorn Valley Bank Northeast Nebraska Shootout will be held from Tuesday, December 28 – Thursday, December 30. Girls and boys teams form Auburn, Hartington Cedar Catholic, Homer, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Pender, Pierce and Winnebago will join Wayne at both Wayne State College and Wayne Jr/Sr High School.
Day one girls games will be at the high school with boys at the college (December 28); boys will then play their second round games at Wayne High School with the girls at Wayne State College (December 29); before 5th and 7th place games at the High School for both girls and boys as well as championship and third place games at WSC (December 30).
First round girls games from the high school will be Pierce vs. Pender at 11 a.m.; Wayne vs. Winnebago at 12:45 p.m.; Hartington Cedar Catholic vs. Homer at 2:30 p.m. and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge vs. Auburn at 4:15 p.m.
Opening day boys games at the college will begin with Wayne vs. Winnebago at 11 a.m.; Pierce vs. Pender at 12:45 p.m.; Auburn vs. LCC at 2:30 p.m. and HCC vs. Homer at 4:15 p.m.
