East All-Stars Takes Advantage Of Overall Record With Two Wins Saturday Over The West

WEST POINT – The Fifth annual Northeast Nebraska Softball All-Star double header drew several area athletes this past weekend from Timmerman Park in West Point.

With both the East and West splitting the previous eight games at 4-4, the East held off the West in a pair of wins. In the opening game, the East All-Stars won 5-2 and then 6-2 in the second contest.

Most Valuable Player awards were issued to both teams as Neleigh Brown from Norfolk led the West defense and Maddie Rinkol from Twin River was the offensive leader.

For the East, Ashley Bohannon from Tekamah-Herman had two home runs to win the offensive award while Alexa Brenn from Arlington led the defense.

Area athletes on the West All-Stars who were listed from Wayne: Kennedy Maly and Jenna Trenhaile; from Pierce: Courtney Yawn and Anne Johnson and Ponca’s Alison Brennan.
