Early Second Half Goal Favors Fort Hays State 

HAYS, KS – A series of three non-conference women’s soccer matches concluded Saturday afternoon for Wayne State College.

From FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays, Kansas, the Wildcat women’s soccer team visited Fort Hays State University.

Following a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Fort Hays State University scored just over 90 seconds into the second half and held onto the 1-0 victory. The Tigers are now 2-0-1 while WSC fell to 0-2-1.

The winning goal was scored at the 46:40 mark of the match.

Fort Hays State outshot WSC, 14-8 (8-3 on goal) and recorded six corner kicks compared to three from the Wildcats.

Chloe Schlines and Skylar Stueckrath both placed one shot on goal of their two attempts while Paige Pemberton added a shot on goal for Wayne State College. Other shot attempts came from Payton Haliburton, Reagan Allen and Maia Vacks.

Sidney Truman recorded seven saves and allowed one goal in 90 minutes.

The Wayne State College women’s soccer team will next open NSIC play at Minnesota State-Mankato on Friday, September 9 at 3 p.m. while also visiting Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday, September 11 at 2 p.m.
