ARLINGTON – The Wayne High baseball team concluded their regular season with their 15th contest on the year where more than a handful games were cancelled.
WHS visited Arlington Monday evening.
Following a scoreless first, the Blue Devils got on the board with a run in the second to go along with a three-run third. Up 4-0, Wayne High added two more runs in the fourth before the Eagles posted a four-run sixth. Wayne held on for the 6-4 victory to improve to 9-6 on the year while Arlington fell to 8-8.
Reid Korth recorded a single, double and two RBI while Tyrus Eischeid tallied a pair of singles and a RBI for WHS on the day. Josh Lutt, Jacob Kneifl, Victor Kniesche and Tyler Gilliland all singled.
Kneifl picked up the win in four innings allowing one hit while striking out four batters. Josh Lutt worked the final three innings allowing four runs off four hits while striking out two batters and walking one.

Wayne High will next compete in the B6 District Baseball Tournament as the #4 seed. WHS is scheduled to open with #5 South Sioux City at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 4 from Frerichs Field (Elkhorn Legion Field). The winner will face the host, #1 Elkhorn at 2:30 p.m. Saturday as the other half of the bracket features #3 Platte Valley vs. #6 DC West at 7:30 p.m. Friday and winner to take on #2 Wahoo at noon Saturday.
