LINCOLN – With the four-day NSAA State Volleyball Championships slated to begin this Wednesday, District Final results are complete setting up the state tourney.
According to a release from the NSAA, the 2021 State Volleyball Tournament will be played at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln from Wednesday, November 3 – Saturday, November 6. State Championships matches will be held at the Devaney while consolation games will be played at Lincoln Northeast High School.
District Results.
Area teams advancing include Pierce in Class C1; Norfolk Catholic and Wisner-Pilger in Class C2 as well as Wynot in Class D2.
From Elm Creek HS, #11 Pierce swept #6 Chase County to advance as the #8 seed in Class C1. The Bluejays (27-5) will open with #1 Kearney Catholic (31-4) at 1 p.m. on Wednesday from the PBA North Court.
State Tournament brackets.
In Class C2, #2 Wisner-Pilger swept #15 Crofton; #7 Guardian Angels Central Catholic (17-9) suffered a five-set home loss to #10 Hastings St. Cecilia while #9 Norfolk Catholic won at #8 Yutan in five sets.
#2 Wisner-Pilger (27-6) will open with the Class C2 state runner-up team from a year ago #7 Norfolk Catholic (22-10). The Gators won 2-1 in a three set match over Norfolk Catholic in the Wisner-Pilger October Classic on October 9 this season. First set is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 4 from the PBA South Court.
During Class D1 in Wisner, #15 Hartington Cedar Catholic (10-23) was swept by #2 Mead as #14 Creighton (15-12) was also swept in Albion by #3 Nebraska Christian over the weekend to end both of their seasons.
From Class D2, #5 Wynot won in straight sets over #12 Wauneta-Palisade at Grand Island Northwest HS.
#5 Wynot (21-9) will next face #4 Stuart (26-5) on Thursday, November 4 at 11 a.m. on the PBA North Court.
