Dirt Devil Weekend Results From YGSA Father’s Day Softball Tournament

YANKTON, SD – More softball was played throughout Saturday and Sunday for Dirt Devil softball programs during the YGSA Father’s Day Tournament.

From Seratoma Park in Yankton, SD, the Dirt Devil 16/18s; 14s, 12s, 10s and 9s were all in action.

The Dirt Devil 16/18s closed out pool play on Saturday by defeating O’Neill, 16-15 and lost 3-1 to the Creighton Thunder after falling 14-0 to Yankton Fury Red on Friday.

In the win, Delaney Kruse singled twice, recorded a homerun, drove in three total runs and scored three times while Jersi Jensen singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice.

Liberty Titiml singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Taytem Ellis singled, drove in a run and scored; Caitlin Mostek singled and drove in a run; Logan Miller accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Sammi Gubbels added three RBI; Kierah Haase scored three times; Hailey Schroeder scored twice as Kylen Robbins scored.

Gubbels picked up the complete game win in three innings allowing 15 runs (nine earned) off 13 hits while walking five batters.

During the loss, Ellis singled twice and scored while Delaney Kruse singled and drove in a run.

Gubbels (84 pitches) suffered the loss in seven innings allowing three runs (two earned) off five hits while striking out five batters and walking three.

In Sunday’s bracket play, the Dirt Devil 16/18s earned the #4 seed and suffered a 5-3 loss to #1 Yankton Fury Fire (eventual champions) to fall to 15-9 on the season.

In the loss, Schroeder doubled and drove in a run while Mostek singled and scored twice. Ellis singled and scored.

Gubbels (69) suffered the loss in four innings allowing five runs (one earned) off five hits while striking out five batters.

The Dirt Devil 14s finished off pool play by dropping an 8-7 decision to Brookings Outlaws 2007 (Brookings, SD) and suffered a 7-1 loss to Futures Softball Snyder after falling 24-4 to TSC Heatwave (Harrisburg, SD) on Friday.

In the loss, Kaylei McIntosh singled, drove in a run and scored while Alexis Legler singled and drove in a run. Reagan McGuire and Kassidee Holz both singled and scored; Lily Gubbels accounted for a RBI and run scored as single runs came from Serenity Heil, Justice Olson and Kayleigh Graybeal.

Jordyn Gamble (76) suffered the loss in two and two-thirds allowing eight runs (seven earned) off 10 hits while striking out three batters and walking two.

The Dirt Devil 14s went 1-1 in Sunday’s bracket play winning the #4 seed battle over RC Nemesis (Summerset, SD), 11-10 before falling to #3 Yankton Fury Twisters, 7-1 (eventual silver division champ) to now sit 5-14 on the season.

In the victory, McIntosh singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice while Olson singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Gubbels singled and scored twice; Heil accounted for a RBI and run scored as single runs came from McGuire, Gamble, Legler and Holz.

Gamble (87) picked up the victory in three innings allowing 10 runs (nine earned) off two hits while striking out two batters and walking nine.

The Dirt Devil 12s concluded pool play by winning 16-3 over the Fury Diamonds (Yankton, SD) and suffered a 10-2 loss against SD United (Rapid City, SD) after winning 7-3 over SBL Warriors (Sergeant Bluff, IA) on Friday.

In the win, Anna Dutcher doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored three runs; Lillian Johnson singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Kamden Dobbins doubled, drove in two runs and scored as Kinnley McGuire doubled and scored three times.

Alivia Kesting singled twice and scored; Olivia Brandow singled and scored twice; Elizabeth Hix scored three runs as Sophia Petersen scored.

Two pitchers combined for the win being McGuire (12 pitches) in an inning striking out one batter as Dobbins (45) worked two innings allowing three runs off one hit while striking out and walking three batters each.

The Dirt Devil 12s earned a #2 seed in Sunday’s bracket play but suffered a loss to Sioux City Futures 12U, 13-1 falling to 15-16-1 on the season.

In the loss, Kesting singled and scored while Hix and Johnson both singled. Heithold accounted for a RBI.

McGuire (86) suffered the loss in two and two-thirds allowing 13 runs (six earned) off 10 hits while striking out and walking two batters each.

The Dirt Devil 10s closed out pool play by winning 11-2 over Brookings Outlaws (Brookings, SD) and 11-1 against the Vermillion Flamez (Vermillion, SD) after falling 10-1 to SD United (Rapid City, SD) on Friday.

In the win, Avery Gubbels singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Hadley Dunklau doubled and drove in two runs as Chloe Kai tripled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Hadley Woehler singled, drove in a run and scored; Madison Olson singled and scored twice; Nevaeh Hanson singled and scored; Reagan McManigal singled and drove in two runs; Kennedy Rubendall accounted for a RBI; Sadi Fredrickson scored twice as Jessa McMenamin and Lorelai Sorenson both scored.

Sorenson (49) picked up the complete game victory in two innings allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit while striking out five batters and walking one.

During the win, Woehler singled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored; Dunklau doubled, drove in two runs and scored while Olson doubled, drove in two runs and scored.

Sorenson singled and scored twice; McManigal and Hanson both singled and drove in a run as McMenamin, Rubendall, Alyssa Bargholz, Fredrickson, Gubbels and Kai all scored.

McMenamin (47) picked up the win in two innings allowing an earned urn off two hits while striking out five batters and walking two.

The Dirt Devil 10s went 0-1 on Sunday in bracket play as the #2 seed falling to #1 Sioux City Futures Prince, 14-1 and are now 18-14 overall.

In the loss, McMenamin doubled and scored while McManigal doubled.

Sorenson (76) suffered the loss allowing 14 runs (12 earned) off nine hits while striking out three batters and walking five.

The Dirt Devil 9s played just one game on Saturday and suffered a 16-1 loss to Kelly’s 10U Gray (Winside) after dropping Friday night games of 15-1 to Sioux City Futures Orange (Moville, IA) and 15-4 to Dakota Dynamite.

In the loss, Lucille Ocampo scored the lone run. No pitching stats recorded.

The Dirt Devil 9s suffered a 9-8 loss as the #3 seed against #4 Yankton Fury Lancers on Sunday in bracket play to now sit 3-13-1 on the season.

During the loss, Williamson and Dutcher both singled and scored while Izzy Ruwe scored twice. Nora Heithold, Willa Ruth, Lillyah Sievers and Zoe Myer all scored.

Williamson (96) suffered the loss in two innings allowing nine runs off seven hits while striking out four batters and walking 11.
