Dirt Devil Tuesday Results

WEST POINT/LOGAN VIEW – A trio of Dirt Devil summer softball teams were in action Tuesday evening.

Both the Dirt Devil 10s and 14s visited West Point while the Dirt Devil 12s played at Logan View.

From the 14s games, the Dirt Devils suffered a 9-7 loss in the first game before winning the night cap, 10-4. The Dirt Devil 14s are now 8-4 on the season.

Both teams scored three runs in the first inning of game one while West Point outscored the Dirt Devils, 5-1 in the second to lead 8-4. The Dirt Devil 14s cut into the deficit with a 3-1 third but fell 9-7.

Delaney Kruse singled and scored twice while Charli Sievers singled and drove in a run. Lily Gubbels accounted for a RBI and run scored, Caitlyn Mostek added a RBI, Jersi Jensen scored twice while Kierah Haase and Taytem Ellis both scored.

Rylin Hall (85 pitches) suffered the loss in two and a third innings allowing nine runs (six earned) off three hits while striking out two batters and walking seven.

From the final game, the Dirt Devils jumped ahead early thanks to an 8-1 opening inning. The Dirt Devil 14s outscored West Point, 2-1 in the third as West Point could only manage two more runs in the top of the fourth to fall 10-4.

Sammi Gubbels singled twice, drove in two runs and scored; Haase singled, drove in two runs and scored twice as Mostek singled, drove in two runs and scored. Delaney Kruse and Lily Gubbels both singled, drove in a run and scored while single runs came from Ellis, Jensen, Sievers and Carli Canham.

Sammi Gubbels (96 pitches) secured the complete game victory in four innings allowing four earned runs off three hits while striking out eight batters and walking seven.

During the 12s games, the Dirt Devils outscored Logan View, 33-0 in the doubleheader to improve to 8-8.

The Dirt Devil 12s scored six runs in the first inning of game one before adding 13 more in the second. The Dirt Devil 12s finished the game with one more run in the third to win 20-0. Both Reagan McGuire and Jordyn Gamble combined for the no-hitter.

Of the combined 14 hits, Courtney Roeber recorded three singles, a double, drove in three runs and scored twice; Justice Olson singled twice, drove in a run and scored three times while Jordyn Gamble singled twice and scored. Reagan McGuire doubled, drove in a run and scored three times; Calie Hopkins and Anna Dutcher both singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Alexis Legler singled, drove in two runs and scored three times; Makenna Mattison singled and drove in a run; Gracelynn Daniels singled, drove in a run and scored as Alivia Kesting accounted for a RBI and three runs scored.

Reagan McGuire (44 pitches) secured the win in two innings striking out six batters and walking two while Gamble (10 pitches) struck out two batters in an inning.

From the final game, the Dirt Devil 12s opened the first inning with 11 runs and scored twice more in the second to win 13-0.

Gamble singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Sidney Nelson singled twice and scored twice while Mattison singled and drove in three runs. Kassidee Holz and Reagan McGuire both singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Olson singled and scored twice; Roeber scored twice as Dutcher scored once.

Kinnley McGuire (42 pitches) secured the win in two and a third innings allowing one hit while striking out six batters. Olson (four pitches) worked two-thirds of an inning striking out one batter.

In the 10s games, both teams finished in a tie of 10-10 in game one as West Point outscored the Dirt Devils early in the first, 3-1 and the second, 5-2 to lead 8-2. The Dirt Devil 10s then cut into the deficit with a 3-2 third inning before posting a five-run fourth inning and forcing a tie of 10-10 due to time.

The lone hit in game one came from Hadley Woehler who singled, drove in two runs and scored. Reagan Heithold drove in a run and scored three times; Olivia Brandow accounted for a RBI and run scored; Bryn Tiedtke added a RBI; Lainey Meyer scored twice as Lilly Redden, Cece Judd and Hadley Dunklau all scored.

Heithold (104 pitches) worked the complete game in three and two-thirds allowing 10 earned runs off five hits while striking out 10 batters and walking nine.

The night-cap showcased a no-hitter by Kamden Dobbins as the Dirt Devils went onto win 13-1. The Dirt Devil jumped ahead early with four runs in the first, outscored West Point, 5-1 in the second before finishing the third with another four runs to win 13-1.

The Dirt Devil 10s are now 3-7-1 on the season.

Lorelai Sorenson singled twice, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice while Jessa McMenamin singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice. Reagan McManigal accounted for a RBI and run scored; Elizabeth Hix and Avery Gubbels both scored twice as Kamden Dobbins, Sophia Peterson, Madison Olson and Meyer all scored.

Dobbins (67 pitches) secured the no-hitter victory in three innings allowing an earned run while striking out seven batters and walking six.

The Dirt Devil 10s will next visit Pender at 6/7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 10; the Dirt Devil 12s will next compete in district competition between Friday, June 11 – Sunday, June 13 in Blair while the Dirt Devil 14s will participate in district action Friday, June 11 – Sunday, June 13 in Scribner as the Dirt Devil 18s return to the diamond on Thursday, June 10 visiting Pender at 6:30/8 p.m.
