Dirt Devil Softball Tuesday Scores

WAYNE – All four Dirt Devil summer softball teams were in action Tuesday evening.

From the Summer Sports Complex in Wayne, the Dirt Devil 18s swept Norfolk Rogue (2-1/9-7); the Dirt Devil 14s split with Pender (4-8/4-3); the Dirt Devil 12s won in walk-off fashion over Pender (11-10) and the Dirt Devil 10s swept Bancroft (10-8/12-9).

In the 18s games, the Dirt Devils scored a run in the first before scoring once more in the sixth. Norfolk Rogue added a run in the top of the seventh but lost, 2-1.

Kendall Dorey singled and drove in a run while Rachel Hobbs singled and scored. Hope O’Reilly, Liberty Titiml and Logan Miller all singled; Taytum Sweetland accounted for a RBI as Hailey Schroeder scored.

Dorey (51 pitches) secured the win in three innings striking out five batters and walking three. Hobbs (70 pitches) worked four innings allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out six batters and walking two.

During the night cap, the Dirt Devil 18s took a 5-2 lead in the first while both teams scored three runs in the third. Norfolk Rogue added a run in the fourth as both teams finished the game with a run in the fifth which favored the Dirt Devils, 9-7. The Dirt Devil 18s are now 13-9-1 on the season.

Mikaela McManigal singled three times, drove in three runs and scored while Sweetland singled twice, doubled and scored three times. Dorey singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice; O’Reilly doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Aliah Schulz singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice; Miller and Kylen Robbins both singled as Titiml accounted for a RBI.

Rachel Hobbs (52 pitches) secured the win in two and two-thirds allowing two earned runs off one hit while striking out four batters and walking two. Erica Brown (42 pitches) worked two innings allowing four runs off two hits while striking out two batters. Dorey (23) pitched a third of an inning allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out one batter and walking two.

From the 14s doubleheader, both teams scored a run in the first while the Dirt Devils outscored Pender, 3-2 in the second. Pender then added two runs in the third and three in the fourth to win 8-4.

Taytem Ellis tripled, drove in two runs and scored while Sammi Gubbels singled and drove in a run. Delaney Kruse accounted for a RBI as single runs came from Kierah Haase, Carli Canham and Lily Gubbels.

Rylin Hall (91 pitches) suffered the loss in four innings allowing eight runs (three earned) off four hits while striking out two batters and walking seven.

In the second game, both teams again scored a run in the first while the Dirt Devils added a run in the third. Pender tied the game back up in the fourth thanks to a 2-1 inning but the Dirt Devil 14s scored once more in the top of the fifth to win 4-3. The Dirt Devil 14s are now 20-8 on the season.

Taytem Ellis doubled and drove in a run while Lily Gubbels singled, drove in a run and scored. Caitlyn Mostek singled twice, Jersi Jensen singled and drove in a run, Delaney Kruse singled and scored as Haase and Hall both scored.

Sammi Gubbels (73 pitches) secured the complete game victory in five innings allowing three runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out five batters and walking one.

During the 12s lone game, the Dirt Devils led 3-1 after the first before scoring a run in the third to lead 4-1. Pender won the fourth, 3-2, scored a run in the sixth and took a 10-6 lead after a five-run seventh. The Dirt Devil 12s answered with their own five-run inning to win 11-10 as Alexis Legler drove in Jordyn Gamble for the win. The Dirt Devils are now 11-10 on the season.

Justice Olson recorded a homerun, singled, drove in two runs and scored three times; Gamble doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored while Makenna Mattison doubled and scored. Courtney Roeber singled twice, drove in a run and scored three times; Reagan McGuire singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Legler singled and drove in a run; Kassidee Holz and Sidney Nelson each added a RBI as K Mcintosh scored.

Kinnley McGuire (73 pitches) worked four and a third innings allowing four earned runs off five hits while striking out six batters and walking three. Reagan McGuire (69) pitched two and two-thirds allowing six earned runs while striking out seven batters and walking six.

From the 10s outings, the Dirt Devils outscored Bancroft, 5-2 in each of the first and second innings to lead 10-4. Following a scoreless third, Bancroft added four runs but lost 10-8.

Reagan McManigal recorded the lone hit being a single and drove in a run while Jessa McMenamin, Hadley Woehler, Lilly Redden and Lainey Meyer all scored twice. Lorelai Sorenson and Cece Judd both added a run.

Sorenson (41 pitches) worked an inning allowing four earned runs while striking out two batters and walking four. McMenamin (68 pitches) pitched three innings allowing four earned runs off one hit while striking out seven batters and walking six.

In the night cap, the Dirt Devil 10s again outscored Bancroft in the opening inning, 5-2 before both teams scored five runs in the second. The Dirt Devils added two runs in the third as Bancroft scored two runs in the fourth which favored the DD’s, 12-9. The Dirt Devils are now 7-10-2 on the season.

Kamden Dobbins doubled drove in a run and scored three times while Bryn Tiedtke singled and scored. Avery Gubbels accounted for a RBI and run scored; Sophia Peterson, McMenamin and Woehler all added a RBI; Elizabeth Hix scored three times as Reagan Heithold and Olivia Brandow both scored twice.

Heithold (55 pitches) secured the win in an inning allowing seven runs (four earned) off one hit while striking out two batters and walking seven. Dobbins (30 pitches) worked an inning and a third allowing two runs while striking out two batters and walking three.

The Dirt Devil 18s will next compete in the Class B USSSA State Tournament in Bellevue this weekend (June 25 – 27) and open with Select Hastings 18U at 3:30 p.m. followed by Nebraska Stealth-Perez at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 25.

Upcoming home outings of Dirt Devil softball on Thursday, June 24 will feature the Dirt Devil 14s vs. the Norfolk Golden Girls at 6:30/8 p.m.; the Dirt Devil 12s will next host West Point at 6:30/8 p.m. and the Dirt Devil 10s will also host West Point at 6/7:30 p.m.
